We had been engaged by a local construction subcontractor to recover a highly contested debt of almost one million ringgit from its employer regarding a construction contract.
The debtor was initially hostile – but we employed reasoning and empathy to discuss the possibility of an installment repayment plan to avoid litigation regarding the matter.
The debtor was initially consistent with its repayments; but had stopped making repayments halfway through the schedule. Left with no option, we ramped up the legal threats and had to issue a winding up notice against the debtor – upon which they relented and paid the remaining balance owed to our Client in full.
